I Worked With Walmart

It’s been a few years since I worked at Walmart. Wasn’t the most pleasant time in my life, but it was better to have weird brainwashed job than have no job. So I tried to stick it out.
I made it about 8 months I think.
While I was working at Walmart, I had a few experiences I didn’t count on.

What I noticed while working at Walmart:

Lawyer Bait
There are a lot of people willing to get an employee fired so they can sue Walmart. Even the other employees. Once when I was pulling a pallet stacked about 7 feet high, a lady stepped in front of me and just stood there, and every time I tried to get her attention she would turn away from me. I noticed a weird tugging, which I assumed was another employee pushing (sometimes if someone has a heavy load, the person pulling a pallet behind them will extend body weight to help push). So I lowered the jack to walk around and tell him to hold up. I get back there and there was a customer trying to pull my stacked pallet down onto herself.

Mass management
There are way too many cooks in the kitchen
If the highest up manager tells you to do something, all of the managers down the line will try and get you to do something else. This will get you in trouble, not the trickle down managers. If you work harder and get both things solved, the higher manager knows which manager was in charge of that extra duty and gives them credit for it. Not you.

Insurance
Insurance used to be great back then. People I know that are there now say it is bad. Very bad.

Manager’s Holiday
Like all retail…. All managers get every holiday off not the employees.

Retailionaires
Managers try to project the image that they are doing well. So they show up with big gold necklaces, break themselves with some extravagant car they can’t afford to finance. Yeah nice Mercedes. Or Lexus or whatever. You can always tell which managers make the least and which make the most by the amount of jewelery they wear to work.

Celebrations
one thing for sure, Walmart does a great job on celebrating. but it is humdrum and you get treated like you are in the food line at the shelter. With a smile.

Thieves
Yes the cashiers get treated like thieves. Cameras everywhere. but truth is, there was a need for the cameras.

The great creators
For some reason Walmart managers tell their employees that walmart made everything. They mention it once. then a week or so later they will mention it again. it’s always something different. Fishing lures, trailer hitches blah blah.

Don’t talk to the old ones
Don’t talk to the employees who have been there the longest. They are the ones who convince everyone else to quit. There is a reason why they have been there the longest.

Don’t park up front
Park far away from the doors but in view of the Walmart invented security cameras. Park too close up front ands you will come back to your car looking dimply like an orange.

Walmart Thanksgiving 2012

Every year, all Walmart employees are required to work through Thanksgiving. This is in preparation for the after-Thanksgiving-sale called “black Friday”. The employees show up, the store gets locked down and the trucks roll in with all of the merchandise that is to be set out on the floors for the morning rush.
It’s a holiday tradition in the United states. It motivates sales.Motivates giving and assures many people will get a present for Christmas, because the prices are so low.

2012 There has been a huge announcement of a walkout and a strike that is supposed to happen at all Walmart locations across the United States because of employees having to work for the holiday.

All Walmart employees know that Walmart does not allow worker Unions come into their company. And well, the worker’s Unions do not like that. For many years, the worker’s Unions have tried many underhanded deceptive tricks to get into Walmart. Usually they buy out some neswpaper columnist and get a hoopla going about angry employees that never existed. This time they used Facebook and twitter and other social media sites with Image memes to create a false outrage. This year it looked like it was about to happen.

What the unions did here is they created a fake protest. and tried to motivate employees of walmart to walk out on the job. If this would have happened, they would have lead the employees to call for Unions. These people tried to create an anger and disgruntlement where anger and disgruntlement were not. Like the bully at school trying to get two kids to fight by whispering in both of their ears ‘Awe did you hear what he just said? I wouldn’t take that”. If this is not a sign that worker Unions are deceptive, then I don’t know how to make you see.

The way you know this is a union scam to try and make Walmart budge, is no one wanted to help the gas station attendants. They work every year. every holiday. even when everything is closed in the country, the gas station is right there. Because you have to get home that day.

Well that picture is from the walmart in Humble Texas. No one on strike. Employees excited for the food in the back being prepared for them and the higher pay (holiday pay). So if mainstream news shows any different, then you at least two things to go by because that picture was taken today at approximately 11:57 . 3 minutes to noon. See anyone on strike?

It seems the internet gung-ho hipster jump on the bandwagon and defend the people, groups care more about solving this fake issue than the actual employees who are excited about double pay, and excessive amounts of food and low customer count (since everyone is with family right now) they get for working today.

Walmart Walk out You say?

walmart walkout

Walmart and Target and many store the like, will be performing walk outs on Thanksgiving. The idea is to announce that the employees should have the holidays off and that it is un-American to force them to work on thanksgiving.

I have a problem with this walk out.
I worked a few years in a gas station. and no.. we never got Thanksgiving or Christmas off.
and I know for a fact, that at least 20% of these walk out people, will be in a gas station on thanksgiving. They will be getting the stuff they can’t get at a closed walmart, or target, or grocery store. Meanwhile, so will every single one of their customers.
ONE CASHIER to handle all of those customers.

This cashier, his pay doesn’t go up. There may be a holiday pay, but there isn’t a raise. and his whole family knows that he is the only person who either cares more about his job than family, has a crappy job, is broke and worthless.

If you organize a walk out that makes sense, like gas station cashiers walk out every time the gas prices get so high it takes him three days to pay for a tank of gas to work for a week, then.. and only then will I help support a walk out such as Thanksgiving selfish hissyfits.

To me, this sounds like people are forcing Walmart to accept Unions.

So, if this happens. Please don’t talk about how sucky it is that the guy behind the counter has to work. Give the man a dollar. and yes I say man because in the nine years I worked for a chain of gas stations, all of the guys had to work holidays, I could call any of the 28 stores in our chain, and it was all guys at all of the stores. So tip the dude. Give him food, tell him happy Thanksgiving.
