Is Unemployement on a rise or decline?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics

Unemployment isn’t as well off as the Local news says it is.

National Unemployment Rates, 2008 – 2012 Official Government website.

unemployment rates

From the way it looks, unemployment is on a decline from last year and the year before. But (for those years unemployment was on an insane increase. but now, the unemployment rate is finally dropping down less than it has been for the past 4 years and no where near where it was in 2008.

Now why would the local news say that unemployment is at “all time low” ?
There is no telling. but one can speculate.
2008 5.0 4.9 5.1 5.0 5.4 5.6 5.8 6.1 6.1 6.5 6.8 7.3
2009 7.8 8.3 8.7 8.9 9.4 9.5 9.5 9.6 9.8 10.0 9.9 9.9
2010 9.7 9.8 9.8 9.9 9.6 9.4 9.5 9.6 9.5 9.5 9.8 9.4
2011 9.1 9.0 8.9 9.0 9.0 9.1 9.1 9.1 9.0 8.9 8.7 8.5
2012 8.3 8.3 8.2 8.1 8.2 8.2 8.3 8.1 7.8 7.9 7.7 n/a
So what exactly is all of the lying for ?
Local news NBC is saying that unemployment is at an all time low. Truth is, it’s just lower than the majority of Obama’s term.

A sad note about unemployment

The sad part about increased unemployment, is the fact that less people are actually searching for a job.

According to Google Trends, the decline of people searching for a job has been steady since 2004. These are actuall searched in Google of the word employment.

Yet in the meantime, research of Unmployment has been on a rise in Google Trends. These are actual searches of the word unemployment.

You can see that there is a steady decline in people looking for a job. This number has not changed dramatically, even during the times that everyone is getting fired and laid off.

What can be the cause of less people actually trying to find a job?

Crazy thing is though, There has been an increase in talk about Lay offs and job hunting as if something is causing a big move or big change in the fact people are searching for a job. but really, they aren’t and the lower numbers being steady as it is shows that nothing new is happen in the negative employment. By all standards you would think that either  a. more people have jobs every year or b.more people are happy collecting unemployment. If by what the news is saying about more people being out of work, you could only assume that more people are on unemployment, and by what the graph shows, less people care to find a job.

are you one of these people?

Help for those on unemployment

So you get checks because you lost your job. You have to fill out a set amount of job applications every month. You have applied at every place you can think of, so now you need more places to apply at. Use the job search here, apply for a job that pays what you require and either get a job or don’t. Hopefully you get a really great paying job. But at the least, you dropped off the required amount of job applications.

Unemployment Update

Even though the unemployment rate rose to 9.9 percent, the government’s jobs report for the month of April is the most positive one since the start of the recession: The economy added 290,000 jobs as the labor force swelled by 805,000, causing the rate to rise.

From the Huffington Post

Will this effect the retirement and pension? Let’s hope it does not. I have my doubts but I keep getting questions about retirement plans for those who already are retired, and those to come.
it goes on to say that people over 50 looking for jobs are having a tougher and tougher time. I fear that day. The day when I can’t pull together a bunch of my know how and make something provide for me. Actually to be broke and have no internet I would be so out of place it isn’t even worth a smirk. I would be a sad site to see. Really to think of the quick one time ideas I can come up with, would get internet for like a month and I would be in a mad dash to make something online and cross my fingers because I can’t check it after that, and I can’t update it. it would fall stagnant in less than 2 months time. I guess whittling some sticks into something and selling them on ebay (or what ever takes it’s place) for a nickle would get old really fast, Especially if my hands hurt.

The whole thing is getting bad enough for me to take notice. I try and not sweat about much, that just leads to unneeded panic and anxiety.  but it is true, you wait long enough for something to finally effect you enough to get as involved as the others (back in the day when you said that stuff didn’t matter) it’s already so far to late, that you are  alone in your struggle of acceptance and submittal.

If you happen to be in this percentage, try the job search.
