Getting Irritated with People at Work
We all get irritated at work. It doesn’t seem to be something you can avoid.
Be it the chair-mat tap dancer, or the desk drummer, the song hummer or constant sigh guy, the guy with his radio up to loud all day, or the guy who walks around whistling. You know that these are not their natural actions, but they seem to do it every dang day. We can ignore this, but that usually just ends in freaking out on a day when it seems louder. We could confront the person, but surely they will not know what you are talking about, and they will seem to start doing it louder or faster or more irritating.
Does it not seem like every new person in an office has bronchitis ?
Headphones. They are the magical wonder drug. You drown out everything around you and get into a zone.
You can’t be rude and you can’t be overly polite. You just have to suggest an alternative to yourself. be annoyed by sounds, or drown out sounds.
This will not work for people who answer a phone all day or wait for intercom pages. It does however work wonders for the person who has to share space with someone in a quiet environment.
Look people. It’s an office, not dancing with the stars. Not “so you think you have talent”. It’s just the office. Stop your drum solos, stop tap dancing, stop singing. Turn down your radio, you are not the office dj. Get to work and focus. You will get more done and be worth more in the long run. Goof up to much and you will get voted off the island.
I have nothing really. if you have any idea how to stop being irritated by the annoying coworker. Please by all means leave a response.
